Adoption Process

Golden Retriever puppies in basket

At Pastiche Kennels we chose not to adopt the standard process followed by most breeders. We decided that it isn’t in our, or the dog’s best interest to assure production of puppies that were reserved on a waitlist in advance. We feel like it would put pressure on us and our dogs to produce and it could possibly lead to breeding for quantity vs. quality. We are also looking out for our customers, we know a lot can happen during the time they are on a waitlist.

Reservation Process

At Pastiche Kennels, we certainly do understand the importance of finding a good home for every one of our puppies, when we have confirmation of pregnancy (prior to birth) we are willing to take 6 early reservations (depending on breed of dog). The expected litter will be posted and it is on a first come first serve basis. We require a NON REFUNDABLE deposit to reserve those spots. After the litter is born, if there are more than 6 puppies the rest of the puppies are available.

Puppy Selection Process

Preferred puppy selection will occur at approximately 6 weeks old at a puppy party. With our guidance on traits such as.. temperament, size, color, etc., we ask each adopting family to select their top three favorite puppies. At 8 weeks old, we evaluate the puppies and based on the puppies traits, we select the puppy that will fit your family best.

Take Home Process

Puppies are generally ready leave for their forever homes by 8 weeks of age, but Pastiche Kennels reserves the right to hold them for an additional amount of time if we feel it is necessary for the health of the puppy. We offer pickup at our home in Central California and on occasion we are able to deliver for a fee depending on the location.

Included With Puppy

At Pastiche Kennels your puppy will come home up to date on all shots and wormers, along with a record of all shots and wormers administered. We register each puppy with the American Kennel Club and we also include a certificate of health from our local veterinarian as well as a Microchip.
